The dusk invades the whole night sky with beautiful envy.
So grateful my kids are with my parents, so I could take this weekend camping getaway.
Fresh air and time with my thoughts is what I’ve been needing.
Hiking back to my tent I keep hearing something big walking in the distance.
It sounds big, but how big I can’t pinpoint that yet.
Wildlife in all its glory is still startling at times.
A stick breaks to the left of me, so I falter and listen momentarily.
Heaving breathing, and dread is taking over my body now.
Standing as still as a statue, all while trying to slow my pounding heart and breathing is proving difficult.
I finally see a shadow in my peripheral vision.
The bear is massive and sniffing furiously.
I was always told to make lots of noise to scare it away, so I need to start being as loud as I can, but something in the back of my mind is telling me to keep being quiet, because the bears is not the only predator out here tonight.
Ultimately, I have to do something or I’ll be stuck here all night.
I start stomping and yelling.
The bear bolts towards the left and is startling fast.
While, I was focused on it I didn’t pay attention to the noises going on behind me.
4 pairs of hands grabbed and throw me down.
Heavy, evil, and overtly exciting breathing is now right above me.
The man and woman are staring at me like they’ve never seen another human before.
Wanna play a little game my little fawn?
The woman coos.
Goosebumps take over my skin as I stare at them.
They force me up and tell me the rules.
Run your little legs ragged or you’ll be our newest toy for the night.
I will warn you though, we’ve explored these woods for years, and stumbled upon your campsite already.
So, good luck and let’s have some fun fawn.
The man says is with such assertiveness that I already know I’ll never be seeing my kids and praying the never find my body, because it seems they won’t even know if I’m a nightmare or people are truly just so cruel for fun.
